Studies on the Crossing Between Variety Induced male Sterility of Radish (1)



Abstract
A male sterile individual was found from the crossing of local variety (D35¡¿S43, D35¡¿C42) of Chinese radish and these used the present paper reports results on the analysis of genetic mechanism of the male sterility, and at the same time attempted t1e possibility of utilizing these genetic system in the production of F©û seed of radish.
1. The male sterility of radish found from the crossing of variety was caused by the interaction of plasmagenes (S) and a pair of homo recessive karyogene (msms).
2. It was assumed that the variety used for the present experiment was considered to have originally N cytoplasm, which underwent mutational genetic change to S cytoplasm by the crossing variety and it became the male sterility.
3. Individuals with karyogenes of MSms or msms were expected to be prevalent in the natural population of radish.
4. Several varieties used as pollen parents in the production of F©û seeds, female gametophyte was seemed perfectly normal because male sterility lines were seemed normal fertility of it¢¥s seeds.
5. The male sterility of radish is possible to inducement and maintenance by using the two genotypes S msms and N msms.
6. These male sterility genetic system may be utilizing for the purpose of F©û seeds production of radish.
